MES and ERS try to do our bit for our local community, walking the walk – as 2018 has kicked off we have started as we mean to go on …
We are staying committed to organising a regular food bank collection amongst our group team and this January our donations will be delivered in support of our local Haringey foodbank.
“Thirteen million people live below the poverty line in the UK, with individuals going hungry every day for a range of reasons, from benefit delays to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.” - The Trussell Trust
The Trussell Trust has a strong network of 400 foodbanks that provide a minimum of three day’s emergency food supplies and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. Last year 1,182,954 three day emergency food supplies were provided to people in crisis.
The Trussell Trust is also working with foodbanks to provide a range of new services like money advice and Fuel Banks, helping people to break the cycle of poverty.
The Trust has been transforming lives for 20 years. To see how foodbanks are making difference to the community please visit the website and find out where your local foodbank is based!
Earlier this week we also re-visited our support with Diamond Education Services with ‘soon-to-be’ school leavers by conducting mock interviews as part of the Interview Skills Project to help prepare them for working life. Learning from these opportunities, the pupils will be able to put these experiences into practice when attending future interviews.Back to blog posts
