"In common with many unions, Equity struggles to engage members in its democratic structures. In particular, turn out in our committee elections has been disapointing for many years. As part of a broad process across the union of reviewing these structures we have worked with Membership Engagement Services to improve the way our elections are presented and managed. To our delight we have had more contested committee elections that for more than a decade, a significant increase in members standing for the first time for an Equity committee and a doubling in turn-out. While just a start in our work in breathing new life into our democracy, these improvements were beyond our expectations. In my view, we could not have achieved this without the involvement of MES."
